Goals    

The major goals of The Franchise Center are:

  1. To become a role model and prototype for establishing Franchise Centers, Franchise Management Certificate Programs, and entrepreneurial Franchise Associations as an advocate and consultant to other universities.
  2. To become a new division of the Society of Franchising, the organization of multi-disciplinary, multinational members, primarily university professors and teachers, who look at franchising through practical research.
  3. To help franchise businesses develop international U.S. exporting.
  4. To establish a Franchise Center in Chihuahua, Mexico, through the University of Monterrey Tech, to develop Mexican businesses into franchises for Mexico and if feasible, America.
  5. To establish a Franchise Center in South America, in Lima Peru, and Brazil.
  6. To assist with the development of education and training programs, research facilities, advising services, other methods of information dissemination, and the vitality of franchising as a form of venture creation and growth

The benefits of the Franchise Management Certificate Program include:

  1. Fostering a new generation of independent business owners universally.
  2. Establishing a support network for potential business owners including the pooled expertise from established franchisees and local business leaders.
  3. Developing a small business/franchise library and resource center containing printed and multimedia materials covering a wide array of topics pertaining to franchising.
  4. Establishing a Business Planning Computer Lab, featuring software for business plans and demographics data.
  5. Working within the university and local high schools (Student Entrepreneurial Center, Ysleta Independent School District, El Paso, Texas) offering franchising as a career option.
  6. Assisting in the establishment of franchise centers in universities nationwide and internationally.
