Curriculur Practical Training    

Definition:

 

For an experience to be considered eligible as Curricular Practical Training (CPT) it must be an integral part of the degree program. It is further defined as alternate work/study, internship, cooperative education, or any other type of required internship or practicum which is offered by sponsoring employers through cooperative agreements with the school.

 

Eligibility and Criteria:

 

One can be eligible for CPT at UTEP if one satisfies all the following:

  1. Valid F1 status
  2. Minimum GPA of 3.0
  3. CPT related to your major field of study
  4. Have completed 9 months of full-time at UTEP

CPT Procedures:

 

  1. Apply for CPT Career Services Office to gain approval and job placement. The Career services office will write a letter outlining your work assignment.
  2. Make an appointment with an International Student Advisor by calling 915-747-5664
  3. Bring the work assignment letter from Career services, your unofficial transcripts, and your appointment letter to receive work authorization from the Office of International Programs.
