Benjamin Delgado
Admission Counselor
Office of Admissions and Recruitment

August is a busy month for many UTEP staff members as students return to classes and the campus begins to welcome new and returning students.  Benjamin Delgado, who has worked for over twelve years at the Office of Admissions and Recruitment, is used to the rush and is always excited for a new semester.  “I enjoy what I do and that is part of what keeps me going.  Having the satisfaction of helping a student with the admission process and achieving it makes a hard day at work worth every minute and makes me feel great.”

Mr. Delgado is responsible of processing student documents for undergraduate admissions, making admission decisions on student files, assisting students during admission processing and assisting in recruitment functions. He enjoys participating in recruitment events such as Orange and Blue Day, a university wide open house event, where students from all over the region learn about UTEP programs.  He understands that the admission process can be overwhelming to students but when you have a great team of UTEP professionals leading students through the enrollment process then it makes everything go smoothly.

When asked about how he keeps going year after year during this busy period, Mr. Delgado smiled and said “it is simple, always provide the best possible service to the student with a smile.” He says that having this attitude can defuse a tense or awkward situation and make the situation easier to approach.

Mr. Delgado on behalf of UTEP’s staff council, we thank you for your positive attitude and your excellent work ethic as an employee of UTEP’s Office of Admissions and Recruitment.
