Pride, opportunity and commitment to the university community are just a few of the things that make up the UTEP Staff Council.
Established in 1994, the council was created to support UTEP's goals and leadership by representing the interest and concerns of the more than 2,000 staff members.
Each year the council has been fortunate to elect staff members that represent our Miner pride, fortitude and dedication.
Since its inception, the council has addressed many issues on behalf of the staff, beginning with the development of our bylaws and the UTEP Staff Council Web site.
We've also helped address salary equity matters, implemented the New Classified Staff Orientation Program, hosted the annual Staff Info Fair and acquired representation on the Parking and Traffic Committee.
This year is no different. The council and its subcommittees will take on existing and new challenges. Among them are:
- Continue development of the UTEP Staff Council Web site
- Valentine's Day Fundraiser (To support the Staff Council Textbook Scholarship Fund)
- Annual Info Fair and Staff Celebration
- Staff Council Textbook Scholarships Awards
- Extend tuition benefits to the staff's family members
Our agenda is filling up quickly, but we are eager to hear from you!
If you have a special concern or have an idea benefiting the UTEP community share it with us at our next meeting or e-mail any staff council member!
